Hello Mud Army!!
We are back at basecamp now after a VERY successful tour in Thailand.
Now, this year at Burapa we were elevated to the third slot both Friday and Saturday. Last year we were the unknown band and we started everything off on Saturday night. This year our show went VERY well on both nights and we are proud to say that we’ve been told to pick whatever time slot we want next year!! How about that?!
This year the night was headlined by Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal and he lived up to his reputation as one of the top 10 guitarists in the world. He had singing support by the great frontman, Stuart Craig (of Wolf Within fame) and our very popular Greek rock artist, George Gakis. Excellent show.
Two earlier bands featured both of these artists – The Stuart Craig Band (featuring Robert White on bass and a real treat in 15yr old guitar wonder, Manou Rao) and George Gakis and the Troublemakers.
We were also proud to share the stage with one of the best bands we’ve ever seen, Goober Gun, from Taiwan. Great, tight pop rock delivered with a world class show. I would also like to announce that our very own Micke Rose played drums for both the Stuart Craig Band and Bumblefoot on Saturday night as an injury sidelined our good friend and their regular drummer, Simon Wyett.
Needless to say, both nights presented great rock n’ roll and the public was with the bands all night long. We can’t wait for next year.
Burapa happened right in the middle of our tour, but before that we played 2 gigs. The first one was a charity gig at the Redox Bar and Restaurant in Pattaya. We teamed up with Stuart Craig Band and even got some help from Goober Gun when our Peter had a late flight and landed 2 hours late. This charity was to help build a school way up yonder in northern Thailand. There was also charity work at Burapa and then the official Children’s Charity show at the Blue Lagoon the day after Burapa which featured, Stuart Craig Band, Mud Pie South, George Gakis and then Bumblefoot.
The 2nd gig we played was Firefest 2. This was an outdoor festival with several of the groups that played at Burapa. After Burapa and the Children’s Charity we took it easy for a few days. Our last gig was at The Lion Pub. This was a great night and also Micke Rose’s birthday, so we incorporated a mini charity at the same time. Instead of people buying drinks for Micke, they put their money into the charity box. It was a very sucessful night, both for the charity and our music. Together for these 4 events we helped to raise somewhere around 200 000 baht for the 2 charities.
We had only played one gig before we flew to Thailand. That was for our friends at Fafnir MC (of which some members even came to Thailand for Burapa). That was the first time we played with Peter and Ink, our two new members. Let me say that the band has really come together, especially after Burapa. It’s not easy to play a big stage, but Mud Pie South fit right in and the band gave a great show each night we played.

It’s a new year and we have high expectations! We are planning a short tour in UK, hopefully in June. Through the summer we hope to see you at clubs, parties, MC fest.
